Why RedHat choose not to join CloudFoundry and my comments

You can read the full article written by Joe Fernandes at - OpenShift blog  on why RedHat chose not to join CloudFoundry Foundation. My Comments (given the original blog post is closed for comments, I decided to write my own comments). I have no issues with RedHat not joining CloudFoundry. It is their freedom of choice as to which foundations they join. However I was slightly disappointed in some of the comments/notes by the writer. Of course one could argue, that it is the freedom to write what you like :-).  " Cloud Foundry commercial vendors like Pivotal and IBM should recognize that the path to enterprise success is on Red Hat Enterprise Linux rather than Ubuntu and thus certify Cloud Foundry on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and eventually Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host." If RedHat was keen to help, shouldn't you join the foundation and get CF certified on RedHat Enterprise Linux, rather than waiting for the vendors such as IBM, Pivotal to come forward? W

My 12cents on 12 Factor Apps

I. Codebase One codebase tracked in revision control, many deploys. Seriously if your code isn't in a code repository you can forget the rest. It you are not already using a code repository, at least try GitHub, Bitbucket or get a local copy of Git, SVN repos.  How Important? Critical  II. Dependencies Explicitly declare and isolate dependencies 'We have no dependencies', 'our app will run on any environment with no issues', 'I mean of force you need to have that library this Java server, that is common knowledge isn't it?' sound familiar? have heard these types of statements many many times.  Most environments you run your application is not going to be the same as where you developed the application. Typically you would have gotten all dependencies needed during your development period.  How Important? High to Critical. III. Config Store config in the environment 'Why is my app doesn't connect to the database, it shoul

Three Hot Open Source Cloud Projects

There is no doubt that Open Source is leading innovation in Cloud Technologies. However one cannot go without noticing the attention generated for the following three Open Source projects. Interestingly these projects are getting the support from previously not so Open Source friendly companies such as Microsoft. However it is also interesting to hear that Amazon is not jumping on them in a big way yet ???  What are these projects? Docker Going by the definition from Docker website, "Docker is an open platform for developers and sysadmins to build, ship, and run distributed applications. Consisting of Docker Engine, a portable, lightweight runtime and packaging tool, and Docker Hub, a cloud service for sharing applications and automating workflows, Docker enables apps to be quickly assembled from components and eliminates the friction between development, QA, and production environments. As a result, IT can ship faster and run the same app, unchanged, on laptops, data cen

Congratulations to Sri Lankan Cricket team !!!!

Firstly warmest Congratulations to the Sri Lankan cricket team !!!! You make us proud, and keep trying and never gave up at any point. Some believe Yuvraj to blame, how about giving credit to Sri Lankan bowlers who worked hard to not give away runs OR keeping the weaker batsman  the batting end. It's all about tactics, isn't it? Finally all what matters is how well you execute your plan and tactics, unfortunately for Dhoni didn't work this time. Wishing all the very best for Sanga and Mahela for their next phase in cricketing life. Will be sadly missed at the shortest format !!!!

Comments by Brendon McCullum after the T20WC2014 game

Excerpt from Brendon's comments after the T20 match against Sri Lanka. "We knew there was a lot of hard work to go,"Brendon McCullum says, "Knew we needed to be positive in the first six. It was a bit dry than we expected and Herath and Sachi, the way they bowled was outstanding. They blew us away with about eight wickets for some 10 runs. Wouldn't say there was extra pressure, it was a quarter-final anway. We just didn't adapt ourselves and played some mindless cricket. We took some poor option and as a result of that we're on the plane home" What I like most about Brendon's comments is that he is not blaming the umpires, pitch conditions or other silly excuses. I think Kiwi team will be a great team to watch during the WC2015, and I am sure they will do well. Like I said in my previous post that I would have love to see both teams getting to the semis, however it was impossible. I take this opportunity to wish them all the very best for th

Sri Lanka vs New Zealand T20 31st March 2014

It is going to be an interesting game tomorrow (31st March) night at the T20WC2104. Whoever win will go through to the semi-finals. While I would have love to see both teams in the semi-finals it isn't going to happen as even a draw by rain or otherwise will only take one team through to the semis. Of course my 1st preference is Sri Lanka to win and go all the way to the finals. In the event Sri Lanka loose I will be supporting my 2nd favourite team Blackcaps. Let us hope whichever team win tomorrow will win the finals too !!!!

> 140 chars

Twitter is a great place for us to express our views, opinion, critics etc as long as we keep it short. So when you are on the run or need to shout out loud it is great. However sometime when you have enough coffee and need to write bit more you need a proper blog.  I guess now I need to find that cup a coffee {or more} and share more than 140 chars :-). Hmmmmm, that is going to be interesting in a world where we only have 24 hours in a day.
