Warming up to CWC15

Cricket world cup is apparently the 3rd largest sport in the world. I am not sure what is the 2nd, however Football (Soccer depending on where you live) is believe to be the number one sport. Anyway for the cricketing world this is it. Warmups started on Sunday, they have all finished now. Some of the minnows managed to surprise big players including 2011 runner-ups Sri Lanka, Pakistan and New Zealand. However Kiwis were quick to recover from 157/7 (rained mach with Zimbabwe) to winning big with South Africa (one of the tournament favorites). It is great to see that minnows working hard and playing their natural game without much pressure. How much can you read from the warm-up games, all I can say is that it is quite possible that test playing nations will not have a walk in the park. Minnows to watch - Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and potentially Scotland.

Comments by Brendon McCullum after the T20WC2014 game

Excerpt from Brendon's comments after the T20 match against Sri Lanka. "We knew there was a lot of hard work to go,"Brendon McCullum says, "Knew we needed to be positive in the first six. It was a bit dry than we expected and Herath and Sachi, the way they bowled was outstanding. They blew us away with about eight wickets for some 10 runs. Wouldn't say there was extra pressure, it was a quarter-final anway. We just didn't adapt ourselves and played some mindless cricket. We took some poor option and as a result of that we're on the plane home" What I like most about Brendon's comments is that he is not blaming the umpires, pitch conditions or other silly excuses. I think Kiwi team will be a great team to watch during the WC2015, and I am sure they will do well. Like I said in my previous post that I would have love to see both teams getting to the semis, however it was impossible. I take this opportunity to wish them all the very best for th...

Sri Lanka vs New Zealand T20 31st March 2014

It is going to be an interesting game tomorrow (31st March) night at the T20WC2104. Whoever win will go through to the semi-finals. While I would have love to see both teams in the semi-finals it isn't going to happen as even a draw by rain or otherwise will only take one team through to the semis. Of course my 1st preference is Sri Lanka to win and go all the way to the finals. In the event Sri Lanka loose I will be supporting my 2nd favourite team Blackcaps. Let us hope whichever team win tomorrow will win the finals too !!!!
